Ten Years Trend Analysis of Malaria Prevalence in Ziway Dugda District, Arsi Zone, Ethiopia

Background: Malaria has been one of the major public health problems in Ethiopia for decades. Recent reports from different part country showed that trend malaria is declining. However, there a need periodic assessing endemic areas as planed elimination strategies. Methods: Ten years retrospective data blood film examination was collected laboratory registration book and monthly report Ogolcho center analyzed to assess prevalence Ziway dugda distric, Arsi zone, Ethiopia. Result: From total 38,094 suspected patients, 4,863 (12.8%) patients were positive microscopically, with 3,301 (67.9%) P. vivax, 1545 (31.8%) falciparum 17 (0.35%) mixed infection. There fluctuating within last ten years, annual cases ranged 1685 2013 103 2020 successive reduction onwards. Conclusion: Trend declining district shift dominancy circulating species (P. vivax).
